Spring Organizational Meeting Wednesday Men’s League April 5, 2017

 

1)         The meeting was called to order at 7:03 by president Harold Paalman with approximately 40 members present.

 

2)         The minutes from 2016 were read.  Motion to accept Ron Warner second Jack Griffin

 

3)         Treasurer Greg Junak gave his report with a carry over balance of $0.00.   Motion to accept by Jack Griffin second by Dave Griesbach.

 New Business

             

1)        A Senior Tee Program will be instituted for the coming season.  Players that are over the age of 65 and have a handicap of 13 or larger have the option to play from the Gold Tees.  These players are still eligible to play in the skins games.  Motion to approve Len Lathrop second Harold Paalman. Motion Approved.

 

2)         Team # 11 is responsible for the food on Fun Night.  Jerry O’Neil, Todd Jens, Harold Paalman, Jim Kloehn. 

 

3)         Rainouts will not be made up.

 

4)         The Blue and White tees will be played on alternating nights as noted on    the schedule. 

 

5)         Schedule will be May 5th through June 21nd First Half (8 weeks) July 5th through August 23th.Second Half (8 weeks).  August 30st League Playoffs.  June 28th will be Fun Night.

 

6)         Secretary fee was set at $100.00

 

7)         League fees are $35.00 per man to be collected by the team captain and paid to the Treasurer by week three May 19th.  Any remaining funds will be donated to Grandview Golf Club for course improvements.

A lengthy discussion was held on ways to increase the league’s donation to Grandview for course improvements. Mylo Clark made a motion to raise the league fees to $30 per player, second by Mike Hetzel, approved. Any money leftover and not needed for operation of the league will be donated to Grandview specifically for course improvements.

Mike Hetzel made a motion to donate $200 to Grand View Golf Club and specify that it’s used towards course improvements, second by Tom Greinert, approved.

Spring Organizational Meeting Wednesday Men’s League April 5, 2006

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 with approximately 25 members present.

Officers for 2007 are Craig Dreier as President, Dick Hoerning is the Treasurer, and Pete Huhn will be the Secretary.

Under New Business:

Motion was passed to throw out 2 high scores for handicap purposes. One thrown out when 4 scores are in, 2 thrown out when 8 scores are in. In a 12 match season, final handicap would be based on 10 best scores.

Motion was passed to use an USGA Equitable Stroke Control.  Maximum strokes per hole are allotted according to the player’s handicap.  This table is for nine hole handicaps:

A motion was passed to not have food every Wednesday night.  Food will be available during the mid-season scramble and the end of the year playoff night only.  Greg Junak and Tom Greinert will organize the food for the first scramble and the league President [and his team] will responsible for the food and prizes for the end of season playoff night.

A motion was passed to set the league dues at $20 per player.

A motion was passed to remain with 13 teams, but realign the teams to have balanced team HCPs.

A motion was passed to have a 16 week season with 13 matches, 2 team fun nights for team points and a playoff at the end of the season.

A motion was passed to have intra-team position movement based on HCPs after the sixth week.

GVGC MEN'S LEAGUE

MARCH 30, 2005

 

The meeting was called to order with approximately 12 members present.

 

The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were approved as read.  The treasurer’s balance is $225.13.

 

Team vacancies were filled in this manner: John Dorn and Mitch Steudel for Ed and Nathan Schwarz; Bruce Wunderlich and Chris Welker for Paul Schwarz and Jeff Stahl; Doc Lehman for Kevin Meyer; and Keith Collar for Brian Montonati.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to get May 4th as our starting date.  There will be no play during the July 4th week.  All rain dates will be made up at the end of the season.  We will have a get together on April 27th.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to determine the first-half winner by taking each team's first 6 rounds after the seventh week of play.  We will also determine the new player positions at that time.

 

A motion was made, 2nd and carried, to keep dues at $10.00 per man. The dues are to be paid to your team captain before the 3rd week of play.

 

A motion was made, 2nd and carried to give $200.00 to GVGG for grills which we pre-paid already.

 

Chris William’s team was selected to our Special Events Com. They are responsible for the playoff meal and prizes.  They will be exempt for the next 5 yrs.;  O'Neils for 4;  Janssen’s for 3;  Kangaroos for 1. 
Team 1 will be responsible for May 4th meal, Team 2 for May 11th, etc.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to use $130.00 for League Winners and $300.00 for prizes at our playoff.

 

There was no old business discussion.  You are to continue to place a ball in the rack only when you have a four-some here and ready to play!

 

Under new businesses---motion was made, 2nd and carried to send cards and a gift of $25.00 to Ed Schwarz, Bob Hauk, and Bob Rindt--- long­time members of our league who have all recently incurred major operations.

 

Lynn will be provided with team rosters, to cross off your name each week to show that you paid.  Make sure that your name is crossed off each week if you pay cash to play.  This includes regulars and subs.  If you are getting a sub, call Lynn and tell her who it is.

April 7, 2004

 

The meeting was called to order with approximately 25 members present.

 

The secretary’s and treasurer's reports were approved as read.  The treasurer’s balance is $572.38.

 

As we lost 8 men from last year, a motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have thirteen 4-man teams and to include a fun night and a rain date in the schedule.

 

Roy Hintz volunteered to dissolve his team and to be replacements for other teams.  A motion was made, 2nd, and carried that Roy Hintz join Mike Olk's team, Dick Hoerning join Paul Schwarz’s team, Vaughn Obry join Chris Williams’s team, and Jimmy Kloehn and Bill Leslie become members of Jerry O'Neil's team.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, but defeated, to reseed for thirteen 4-man teams.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to set May 5 as our starting date. We will have a FUN DAY on June 23 and set July 7 as a rain date.  All other rain dates will be made up at the end of the season.  We will have a get-together on April 28.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to determine the first-half winner by taking each team's first 6 rounds after the seventh week of play. We will also, determine the new player positions at this time.

GVGC MEN’S LEAGUE

March 26, 2003

 

The meeting was called to order with approximately 20 members present.

 

The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were approved as read. The treasurer’s balance is $653.67. It was reported that our donation will be used to help provide improvements on the course (markers, etc.).

 

Porter’s Pandas team was dropped.  Bill Borchardt, Gene Vandenberg, George Lehl, Jason Briefemeister, Troy Carlson, Shane Porter, Pete Huhn, and Nick Hintz replace Roger Mulroy, Randy Immel, Med Medlen, Jerry Murphy, Bob Rindt, Lee Drews, Jake Watson, and Steve Hanadel respectively.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to set May 7 as our starting date.  We will not play on July 2 unless we have a rainout, any other rainouts will be made at the end of the schedule we will have a get-together on April 3O weather permitting.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have a first-half winner, after the first 7 rounds, meet the second-half winner for the league championship. We will compute player positions after the first 7 rounds for the remainder of the year.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to keep dues at $10 per man. The dues are to be paid to your team captain before the 3rd week of league play.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried, to donate $200 to GVGC for whatever expenses they deem necessary. The manager will inform us as to how our donation has been used.

 

Dave Janssen’s team was selected to be our Special Events Com. They will be exempt for the next 5 yrs, Kangaroos for 3, Minks for 2, and the Squirrels for 1. Team No. 6 will be responsible for the May 7 meal, No. 7 for May 14, etc.

 

Old business discussion centered on tee times, ball in the rack, and starting time for play.  There will be no changes.  YOU ARE TO CONTINUE TO PLACE A BALL IN THE RACK ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE A FOUR-SOME THERE AND READY TO PLAY.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to add approximately $100 more for our expenses for the play-off. The total will be about $300.

GVGC MEN’S LEAGUE

April 3, 2002

The meeting was called to order with approximately 20 members present.

 

The secretary’s and treasurer's reports were approved as read.  The treasurer's balance is $482.45.  It was reported that our contribution to the golf club had not been spent as of yet.

 

Team #16 was dropped.  Paul Younger, Randy Immel, Pat Huhn, and Brian Montonati will replace Bill Bohman, Bob Quinn, Maurice Huhn, and Don Briggs respectively.  Our schedule will continue to include 16 teams.  If you are scheduled to play Team 16, you will have a bye that week.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to set May 1 as our starting date, we will not play on the 3rd of July, and our play-off would be on Aug. 21 if there are no rainouts.  Any rainouts will be made up at the end of the year.  We will have a get-together on April 24.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to keep score for the entire season with the first and second place teams playing off for the league championship at the end of the year. We will compute player positions after the first 8 rounds, for the next 7 rounds.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to keep dues at $10 per man. The dues are to be paid to your team captain before the 3rd week of league play.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to donate $200 to GVGC for whatever expenses they deem necessary. The manager will provide us with information as to how our donation has been used.

 

Porter's Pandas was drawn to be the Special Events Com. They will have to take their regular turn for lunch responsibility as well as for the final week's play-off activities.  They will be exempt for the next 5 yrs., Kangaroos for 4, Minks for 3, Squirrels for 2, and the Walruses for 1.  Team No. 5 will be responsible for the May 1 meal, No. 6 for May 6, etc.

 

Discussion under old and new business: slow play, ball in rack, something other than trophies for award winners, players not paying their green fees, subs, winter rules, using blue and/or white tee markers, etc, which resulted in the following.

March 28, 2001

The meeting was called to order with approximately 18 members present.

 

The secretary's and treasurer's reports were approved as read. The treasurer's balance is $275.25. It was reported that our contribution to the golf club was used for tables and Nescos.

A motion was made to add two teams--Younger's and Porter's--and to add Nate Schwarz, Bernie Olk, and Bob Whitman to replace T. Baehman, J. Arendt, and K. Collar respectively. Any other vacancies will have to be filled by team captains with subs unless they can find someone to play regularly.  The motion was 2nd and carried.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to set May 2 as our startling date.  We will not play on the fourth of July.  Any rainouts will be made up at the end of the year.  The first-half of the season will consist of the first 8 rounds played.  A league get together will be played on April 25 for those who can attend.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to keep dues at $10 per man. The dues are to be paid to your captain before the 3rd week of league play.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to donate $200 to GVGC for what­ever expenses they deem necessary. The course manager will provide us with information as to how it has been used.

Korpela's Kangaroos volunteered to be the Special Events Com. They will be exempt for the next 5 years, Minks for 4, Squirrels for 3, and the Walruses for the next 2 years. Team No. 4 will be responsible for the May 2 meal, No. 5 for the May 9, etc.

 

Some topics discussed under Old and New Business:  the poor atten­dance for the league championship playoff which resulted in a $50 loss for us on the meal, tee-off will remain the same as last year (4:00 to 6:00), winter rules in your fairway apply until Memorial Day, etc.

Team vacancies were filled as follows:  Bruce Meyer and Kevin Meyer for Dan Herron and Ernie Schultz, Lee Drews for Jerry Freiburger, Bob Prahl for Russ Hotchkiss, and Keith Collar for Charlie Olk.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to set May 3 as our starting date for this season.  We will set June 7 as an open date to be used for a raindate or special event.  We will not play on July 5.  Any other rainouts will be made up at the end of the year.  A team get together will be played on April 26 for those who can attend.

Some topics discussed under Old and New Business:  too much slow play--try to plan ahead to speed up play; tee-off times to remain at 4 to 6; do not play as twosomes unless the very last group can’t pair off because of a forfeit; each team member is responsible for food not just the captain--that also includes help in cleaning up; discussed whether food should be catered in by some businesses--declined; there will be arranger to cheek for receipts and to sell refreshments during league play; and also discussed the enlarging of our league to 2 more teams and getting more subs.

The meeting was called to order with approximately 25 members present.

The secretary’s and treasurer's reports were approved as read. The treasurer’s balance is $344.77 as of April 1, 1999.  It was reported that our $200 contribution to the golf club was used for the wall painting and various other items.

The following vacancies were filled as follows:  Trevor Baehman for Dave Quella, Jan Arendt for Bob Kleinke, Tom Cotnoir for Bruce Kluge, and Dan Herron for Mike Murphy.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to set May 5 as the starting date for this season.  We will set June 2 and July 7 as open dates that can be used either for raindates or special events.  Craig Dreier volunteered to handle the first special event.  A team get together will be played on April 28 for those who can attend.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried that the officers along with Ron Steudel and Dennis Dahlstrom form a committee to look into the possibility and ways to add two new teams next year or in the future.  This committee is given the authority to make all decisions concerning this matter.

GVGC MEN'S LEAGUE

MINUTES
March 25, 1998

The meeting was called to order with approximately 25 members present.

The treasurer's and secretary's reports were approved as read. The treasurer's balance is $476.04 as of April 1, 1998.

After considerable discussion dealing with the loss of ten members of the league and how we should proceed, a motion was made, 2nd, and carried to reduce our league teams to 14.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to completely restructure our teams based on their gross averages.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to set up the teams by taking the first 14 scores, then reversing the next 14, etc. to fill out the teams.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to try to keep the old captains on our new teams.  If a team does not have an old captain, they will decide on their captain as well as a team that may have 2 captains on the same team. Dick Hoerning, Mike Huebner, and Dale Waushesock would prefer not to be captains of a new team.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have our tee-off time start at 4:00 and end at 6:00 with no other golfers from outside the league to tee off until our entire league is off. The clubhouse manager stated that we should not have any groups begin on the 7th hole anymore.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to set May 6 as the starting date for this season. We will set June 3 and July 8 as open dates that can be used either for raindates or special events. A get together will be played on April 29 for those who want to attend.

The meeting was called to order with approximately 25 members present.

The treasurer's and secretary's reports were approved as corrected. The treasurer's balance is $427.45 as of April 1, 1997.

A roll call of teams showed three teams needed replacements. Due to uncertainty of Russ Femal's status, a motion was made, 2nd, and carried to keep Russ Femal as a member of Riedl's Rhinos for the year. Greinert's Gorillas selected Greg Junak, Waushesock's Weasels took Mark Reinemann, and Korpela's Kangaroos selected Jack Hanus as their new teammates.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to set May 7 as the starting date for this season. We will schedule matches during the week of the 4th of July and make up all rainouts at the end of the year. A get together will be played on April 30 for those who want to attend.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to keep dues at $10 per man.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to donate $200 to GVGC for whatever expenses they deem necessary.  It was recommended that the golf course provide us with information as to how our donation was used.  Last year's donation and this year's will probably be used for new grills.

Dave Quella's team was drawn to handle this year's special events. They will be exempt for the next 5 years; Mulroy's Monkeys for the next 4; Madden's Minks for 3; Rindt's Robins for the next 2 years; and Watson's Walruses for the next year.  Team No. 11 is responsible for providing food for the 1st week of play, No. 10 for the 2nd week, etc.

Discussion centering on the calling off of a round due to adverse weather conditions resulted in a reminder of--"all officers are to vote and decide by 5:00 whether or not we will play that particular night." There, also, was considerable discussion on subs that forfeited a round. It was recommended that those subs not be called. It was also recommended that we make sure each sub knows who and at what time they are to play by contacting the person they are to play.

It was stated that we try to have most people through eating by an earlier time so the team could clean up sooner. Ed recommended that the teams plan for only 24 to 30 people eating that night and then clean-up probably would take place at an earlier time.

Jerry Korpela reported that the Don Schultz memorial was on hold as an aerial photo would be too expensive.  They will be checking on possible uses of the $73 in the fund.  It was mentioned that the annual Don Schultz Tournament, will be held on August 3 and 4 this year.

The board announced that they are trying to encourage the Tues. and Wed. Leagues to be finished teeing off by 5:30.

Discussion centering on placing a ball in the rack:  any two-some ready to play can place a ball in the rack, however, only FOURSOMES SHOULD TEE OFF.  IF YOU HAVE SET UP A DEFINITE FOUR-SOME, A BALL SHOULD NOT BE PLACED IN THE RACK UNTIL ALL FOUR MEMBERS ARE HERE.

Discussion centering on the large sum of money in the treasury resulted in a motion which was 2nd and carried to increase the amount of money spent on our fun day to $400.

The meeting was called to order with approximately 30 members present.

The treasurer's and secretary's reports were approved as read.  The treasurer's balance is $373.33 as of April 1, 1995.  It was noted that the $200 was given to GVGC last year was used for the purchase of kitchen cabinets.

A roll call of teams showed two teams needed replacements. Three teams were not represented at the meeting: Huettl's Hounds, Quella's Quails, and Madden's Minks.  Korpela's Kangaroos selected first and took Pat Quinn.  Mulroy's Monkeys then selected Bob Williams and Don Martzahl.

A motion was made, 2nd, and failed to carry to start the league on April 26.  A motion was then made, 2nd, and carried to start the league on May 3rd, and to keep July 5th as an open date to be used for a rain date.  All other rain-outs would be made up at the end of the schedule.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have the league dues remain at $10 per man.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to donate $200 to GVGC for whatever expenses they deem necessary.  The manager suggested the $200 would be used for the purchase of 2 new shades.

Jerry Korpela said there is a fund balance for the Don Schulz memorial.  More donations will be accepted for this fund and the proceeds will likely be used on some sort of aerial picture of GVGC.

Craig Dreier said a new match play tournament in Don Schulz's honor will be held tentatively on July 22nd and 23rd.

Madden's Minks name was drawn from the hat to handle this year's special events.  They will be exempt from the drawing for the next 5 years; Rindt's Robins for the next 4 years; Watson's Walruses for the next 3 years; Griesbach's Gators for the next 2 years; and Hoerning's Critters for the next year.  Team No. 14 is responsible for providing food for the 1st week of play, No. 13 for the 2nd week, No. 12 for the 3rd week, etc.  Of course, team No. 9 Madden's Minks will be skipped in the rotation as they will provide the food on the special events night at the end of the year.

Discussion of repairing ball marks by President Craig Dreier and kudos from Secretary Ed Schwarz to the teams for making a profit on food.

A roll call of teams showed two teams needed replacements. Riedl's Rhinos selected first and took Chris Pankow.  Murphy's Moles then selected Norm Mompier.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to start the league on May 4, have a practice night on April 27, and to keep July 6 as an open date to be used either for a raindate or a jamboree.  All other rainouts would be made up at the end of the schedule.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to raise the league dues to $10 per man and raise the secretary's pay to $200.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to donate $200 to GVGC for whatever expenses they deem necessary.  It was recommended that the golf course provide us with information as to how our

donation was used.

A committee of Jerry Korpela, Bernie Daniels, and Dennis Dahlstrom will continue to look into the costs for a memorial to Don Schulz.  An aerial view of the golf course was mentioned as a possibility by Jerry Korpela. They will issue a report by July 6.

Rindt's Robins name was drawn from the hat to handle this year's special events.  They will be exempt from the drawing for the next 5 years; Watson's Walruses for the next 4 years, Griesbach's Gators for 3 years; and Hoerning's Critters for the next 2 years.  Team No. 15 is responsible for providing food for the 1st week of play, No. 14 for the 2nd week, No. 13 for the 3rd week, etc.

Discussion of repairing ball marks by each player, on having captains try to make money on their lunch by ordering for fewer and charging more, teeing off before stated times--denied, that the brush to the left of 3 fairway be burnt off or mowed should be mentioned to club officials were all touched on.

The meeting was called to order with approximately 23 members present.

The treasurer's and secretary's report were approved as read.  The treasurer's balance is $324.15 as of April 1, 1992.  Ed stated that $200 dollars of the league's money was appropriated for help in purchasing a ball picker.

A roll call of teams was taken showing that 4 teams needed replacements.  Jerry O'Neil--selecting for Watson's Walruses--picked Jerry Murphy; Bruce Kluge, selecting for Huettl's Hounds, selected Bob Williams—if Bob Williams does not want to play regularly, than Dave Flanagan will become a member of Huettl's Hounds, which became the case; Huebner's Hornets selected Dennis Dahlstrom, and Korpela's Kangaroos selected Roger Siebert.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to start the league on April 29, have a practice night on April 22, skip the Wed. of July 1 using it as a rain date if needed, and making up all other raindates at the end of the year.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to keep the league dues at $8 per man.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried for the officers during the course of the season to appropriate $200 to fix the gas grills with any money remaining to be used toward the purchase of the ball picker.

Griesbach's Gators name was drawn from the hat to handle this year's special events.  They will be exempt from the drawing for the next five years, while Hoerning's team is exempt for the next four years.  It was decided that team #1 would provide food for the first night of league play, #2 for the 2nd night, #3 for the 3rd night, etc.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to collect donations to provide a memorial for Don Schultz.  The Men's League would help with this and make it at the end of the year.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to start the league on April 24, with a practice night on April 17, skip the week of July 4, and make up all rainouts at the end of the season.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to keep the league dues at $8 per man.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried for the officers during the course of the season to appropriate $200 for the improvement of the golf course.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to draw team numbers from a hat to determine this year's Special Events Committee.  The team that is drawn would be exempt from the drawing for the next five years.  Dick Hoerning's team will take care of the special events this year.

It was decided that team #16 would provide food for the first night of league play, #15 for the 2nd night, $14 for the 3rd night, etc.

GVGC MEN’S LEAGUE

MEETING

March 29, 1990

The meeting was called to order with approximately 17 members present.

The treasurer's and secretary's report, which was read by Paul Schwarz, were approved as read.  The treasurer's balance is $223.83 as of Feb. 28, 1990.

Jerry Korpela suggested that more should be done to increase revenue, and in turn the league would sponsor a hole on the course to beautify; i.e., plant trees, shrubs, etc.  No motions ensued from this discussion.

A roll call was taken of teams showing that Dobberstein's Dolphins needed a replacement player. Mark Hauser was then assigned to that team. The team's name has been changed to Quella's Quails.

A motion was made, 2nd., and carried to start the league this season on April 25, with practice night on April 18, skip the 4th of July, and all rainouts to be made up at the end of the season.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have a 5 p.m. time limit for the officers to decide whether we should play or have a rainout.

A motion was made, 2nd., and carried to increase the fees to $8 per man.

A motion was made, 2nd., and carried to have Bob Rindt and Bill Jones take care of special events for the year.

A motion was made, 2nd., and carried to have Team No. 1 prepare food for week No. 1, with teams 2, 3, 4, etc., to follow.

President Paul Schwarz then passed the gavel to our new president, Dave Griesbach.

A motion was made, 2nd., and carried to enforce the 3:30 p.m. league starting time, as too often twosomes have been playing matches earlier than 3:30 and causing another twosome to be left to play alone at the end of the night. The penalty will be a double forfeit as determined by the officers.

A roll call, of all teams present showed that there were no vacancies to be filled.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to accept Keith Collar's appeal to remain on his team as a member of the GVGC League.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried that the starting date for the 89 season be May 3.  July 5 will be used as a rain date only if we have two or more rain outs prior to that date.  A single rain out will be made up at the end of the schedule.  The first 8 matches will determine the first-half winner.  April 26 will be used as a practice round, weather permitting.

 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have each team responsible for food starting with Team #16 on the first night, ect, and continuing until Team 1 takes it on the last night.  The date each team serves will be shown on the Roster sheet and player handicap position. The President-Elect should also try to remind each team captain ahead of time. 

A motion was made and 2nd but did not carry due to a 7 to 7 vote, to propose to the board to stake out Hole #9 for out of bounds.  The motion was, therefore, tabled. 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have Bob Rindt serve as our Special Events Chairman.  A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have Bill Jones assist Bob Rindt in his duties. 

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have dues set at $6 per man for the league and $2 donation expressly for refurbishing the grills.  If it is not used for the grills, we will keep the $2 for our own use.

GVGC MEN’S LEAGUE

March 30, 1988

The meeting was called to order with approximately 24 members present.

The secretary's and treasurer's reports were approved as read.  The treasurer’s balance is $264.42 as of March 30, 1988.

Ed Schwarz stated that the officers decided to donate $100 last fall from the league treasury for a memorial to honor Milford Steffen.  Donations from the league members will be accepted to offset this payment.  Any other donated amounts will be used to honor the memory of Milford in someway, such as:  tee markers on the  golf course.  It was decided to allow the full membership of the league to determine this at a later date.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried approving the officer’s decision to spend $100 dollars as a memorial to Milford Steffen.

Three team vacancies were filled:  Tom Greiner on Colombe’s Cats, Steve Hanadel on Calder’s Critters, and Tom Lathrop on Huettl’s Hounds.

April 27 will be the starting date for the 1988 season.  The first 8 matches will determine the first-half winner.  The week of July 6 will be left open as a rain date or possible Jamboree date.  April 20 will be a practice round with Don Schulz recommended to provide the food for the night.

The meeting was called to order with approximately 18 members present.

Two team vacancies were filled:  Roger Mulroy's Monkeys selected Rob Pankow while Jerry Korpela's Kangaroo's selection was Rick Pankow.

May 6 was set as the starting date for the 1987 season. The first 8 matches will determine the first-half winner. The week of July 1 will be used as a rain date or a fun day. July 8 will be left open for the annual Men's Jamboree.  April 29 will be a practice round with Don Schulz recommended for providing the food for the night.

Dave Quella and Tim Greinert were nominated to continue serving as chairmen of our Special Events Committee.  Maurie Huhn and Bob Rindt volunteered to take care of the July 1 event.

The meeting was called to order with approximately 30 members present.

Two team vacancies were to be filled by phone calls after the meeting.  Griesbach's have Clint Dunathin and Colombe's have Med Medlen as their new team members.

The secretaries and treasurer's reports were approved as read.  The treasurer's balance is $130.75 as of April 2, 1986.

April 30 was set as the starting date for the 1986 season.  The first 8 matches will determine the first half winner.  The week of July 2 will be used as a rain date.  April 23 will be a get together and fun day.

A motion was made, seconded, and carried to have dues remain the same as last year:  $6 regular dues and $2 for grill donation.

Our special events committee this year will consist of Paul Schwarz, Dave Quella, and Tim Greinert.  Each team is responsible for food starting with Team 1 on the first night, etc., continuing until Team 16 on the last night.  President-Elect will try to remind teams of their responsi­bilities.

There was discussion on balls lost in the mud when ground is saturated.  Our league adopted rule states that there is no penalty if you lose your ball in the mud. You are to drop a ball approximately where you lost it and continue play without penalty.

After several motions dealing with summer and winter rules were defeated, a motion was made, seconded, and carried to play SUMMER RULES ALL SEASON LONG.

A motion was made, seconded, and carried to have Ed Schwarz set up a Special Event during the month of May.

The meeting was called to order with 15 of the teams being repre­sented.  Van Elzen's, Dobberstein's, and Mulroy's were absent.  Three teams filled vacancies in this manner:  Waushesock's Weasels selected Paul Schwarz; Steudel's Squirrels—Dick McClone; and Dobberstein’s Dolphins—Chris Williams.

The secretary's and treasurer's reports were approved as read.  The treasurer's balance as of April 1, 1985 is $103.40.

The expansion committee recommended to keep the league as is with 16 four man teams and forget about any thoughts of further expansion.

May 1 was set as the starting date for the 1985 season.  The first 8 matches played will determine the first half winner.  The week of July 4th will be an open date.  All rain outs will follow the end of the second half.  April 24 will be an open date get together and fun day.

A motion was made, seconded, and carried to have dues remain the same as last year.  $6 regular dues and a $2 donation for the grills.

The meeting was called to order with 13 of the teams being represented.  Four teams filled vacancies in this manner:  Colombe's Cats selected Don Steudel; Huettl's Hounds—-John Femal; Fauske's Foxes-—Tim Greinert; and Hooyman's Hyenas—-Ernie Schultz.

The secretary's and treasurer's reports were approved as read.  The treasurer's balance as of April 1, 1984 is $128.49.

A motion was made, seconded, and carried to table for further study the addition of two teams to our league.

A motion was made, seconded, and carried to have the committee for expansion to report by July 15, 1984 on the addition of two teams with recommendations for scheduling, drafting, etc.

It was suggested and discussed again this year that more teams could start on #7 to help speed up play.  A reminder to those that want to play with a specific foursome—should not place a ball in the rack until all four players are here.  If you do, your ball will be removed and placed on the top of the rack.

Ron Steudel stated that there will be several, handicap changes on the score cards this year and that players should be aware of them.

Two teams will have name changes this year:  Hooyman's Hyenas will be named Griesbach's Gators and Fauske’s Foxes will now be called Steudel's Squirrels.

The meeting was called to order with 14 of the teams being represented. Four teams filled vacancies in this manner:  Fauske's Foxes selecting Ron Steudel and Jerry Korpela; Waushesock's Weasels--Bernie Daniels; and Hooyman’s Hyenas took Dave Schwarz.

The treasurer's report was approved as read showing a balance of $91.83 as of April 1, 1983.

April 27 was set as the starting date for the 1983 season.  The first 8 matches played determine the first half winner.  July 6 will be left open and serve as a rain date if necessary.  April 20 will be an open date and special events.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to appoint a committee to look into the possibility of adding more players/teams to the league.  Committee members are G. Conger, D. Schulz, R. DeGroff, and E. Schwarz.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to change the league Tee Off Time to 3:30--5:30 with 6:00 still the latest time for going out without forfeiting.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to add a $2 donation on to the regular $6 dues for each member to help continue paying for the gas grills purchased by the club last year.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to raise the Secretary's fees to $150 a year.

It was suggested that a reminder should be posted concerning placing your ball in the rack:  IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR A FOURSOME, YOU ARE NOT TO PLACE A BALL IN THE RACK UNTIL ALL FOUR MEN ARE THERE:  anyone violating this will have his ball removed from the rack.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried that if a player misses more than 10 out of the 15 matches during the season, he is to appeal to the membership at the annual awards meeting for re-instatement or his status on the team will be terminated.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to add a $2 donation onto the regular $6 dues for each member to help pay for the gas grills purchased by the Club.

A special events committee will be co-chaired by Gene Conger, Ron DeGroff, and Jerry Frieburger.  Each team is responsible for food starting with Team #1 on the first night, etc.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to play summer rules after Memorial Day unless the manager rules otherwise.

A motion was made, 2nd, and carried to have the Captain's designate a 1, 2, 3, and 4 man based on their handicaps for the first 8 rounds; the captain will then designate 1, 2, 3, and 4 man for the second half of the season.  You will continue to play in your position even if your handicap raises you or drops you during that particular half.

It was mentioned to encourage all subs to come and play after the league tees off and that they are welcome to stay and eat after­wards every Wednesday evening.

A question was asked dealing with lost balls in play in the mud.  Any ball lost in the mud in play will be treated as occasional water and receive a free drop (no penalty).

The meeting was called to order with approximately 12 of the teams being represented.

The Treasurer's report showed a balance of $76.54 as of April 1, 1981.

April 29 was set as the starting date for the 1981 season.  The first 8 matches we play will determine the first-half winner.  The remaining 7 matches will determine the second-half winner.  A rain date could be made up on the first of July.

All league members will be assessed the same $6 fee to be paid to their captains and than to the league treasurer.
